My Dear People,

6th Sunday in Ordinary Time, 2025

My Dear People,

Today we have the famous speech—the “Sermon On The Plain.” This is little different from Matthew’s “Sermon on the Mount.” Matthew was writing for the Jewish Christians, who understood that the meaning of  “mountain” was a special place where God is revealed. Luke’s  “sermon on the ... Read More »

My Dear People,

My Dear People,

Now we begin Sundays in Ordinary Time. This miracle at Cana links this Sunday with the feast of the Epiphany and with Jesus’ Baptism—all are epiphanies of his glory, which reveals Jesus as the Messiah.

In Jesus was fulfilled today’s reading of Isaiah. This is also ... Read More »

The Baptism of the Lord, 2025

Posted by Christy .. on 1/14/25

My Dear People,

While using expressive imagery, John performs a Baptism (with water) and proclaims he is not the Messiah. He, who is on His way, will come with the dignity of one who has no human equal, and with the authority of a supreme Judge that belongs to God.

In Christ’s baptism we can find a similarity in the way the sacrament of Baptism affects a person. Christ’s baptism was the exemplar of our own. In it, the mystery of the Blessed Trinity is revealed. The faithful, on receiving Baptism, are consecrated by the invocation of and by the power of the Blessed Trinity. Similarly, heaven opening signifies that the power, and the effectiveness of this sacrament comes from above, from God. The newly baptized have the road to heaven opened up for them, a road which original sin had ... Read More »

My Dear People,

Happy New Year to everyone!  May this year be blessed and fruitful for all.

My Dear People,

The Holy Family returned to Jerusalem to fulfill the prescriptions of the Law of Moses—the purification and then redemption or buying back the first born. According to Leviticus 12:2-8, a woman who bore a child was considered unclean. In the case of a mother of a ... Read More »
