27th Sunday in Ordinary Time, 2024

My Dear People of God,

This is Respect Life Sunday. Now that Roe vs. Wade was abrogated, the issue of abortion has gone to the states. Each state has a different law in regards to abortion. In some states, the pro-abortionists have succeeded in having abortion legal up to the third trimester. If people really had understood what the amendment truly said, I’m certain many voters would have voted against it. I pray this does not happen again in Florida.

This November, Amendment 4 is on the Florida Ballot, and the language is camouflaged to sound like something positive so people will vote in favor of it. Again, it does not clearly explain what you are voting for.

We have been praying every day to protect both the mother and the child in this upcoming voter issue. Abortion is an evil act! It kills life! Young, stressed, pregnant ladies when they go to an abortion clinic run by Planned Parenthood are almost always pressured to have an abortion. Ultrasounds are taken, but they are not always shown to the young mothers, for fear that the mother, when she sees a picture of her child, will then change her mind.

Planned Parenthood says they are pro-choice. Yet, they give the mother only one choice! They do not give positive, emotional support. They pressure the young mother to abort her baby, and never talk about adoption as an option. They tell the young ladies that abortion will not affect them psychologically, and minimize all the negative results. They are not truthful when, they say they deal with healthcare. Their main focus is not on healthcare for the mother but on pressuring the Mother to abort her baby.

When I was in Bradenton I was on the board of Solve. Solve is a pro-life support system. Solve was founded by Helen Cadoret, who felt bad about abortions and what was happening in our country. So, she decided to do something about it. Inspired by God, she opened the first house. Years later, they built a newer house. When they moved in, the previous house was remodeled and modernized.

With two houses now, one houses pregnant mothers under the age of 21 and the other cares for those over 21. When a young pregnant girl arrives without support from family or boyfriend, Solve provides food, lodging, education, and other necessities until the child is born. Solve has saved many babies from abortion with this affirmative agenda.

The 4th Amendment is going to be on the ballot in Florida this November. The language is ambiguous and convoluted. In essence, it eliminates the parental approval of the young  (underage) mother who may be considering abortion. It eliminates the doctor’s input. It does mention the healthcare provider, but that could mean any individual who is taking care of the young lady. It allows the young mother to have an abortion up to the point of birth--with no restrictions whatsoever.

We must speak against this amendment! We must pray incessantly this amendment will be defeated! We must vote against this amendment in November.

Yours in Christ,

Fr Vincent Clemente
